3 Things You Need To Know (4/12/17)

Welcome to our daily update, where we summarise the key talking points from the last 24 hours.

1. Brexit

The UK and EU have failed to reach an agreement that could move them on to the next stage of Brexit talks.

“She’s a tough negotiator. Not an easy one,” Jean-Claude Juncker, President of the European Commission, said of Theresa May at a joint press conference.

Meanwhile, the Prime Minister said that a couple of issues remain, but she is confident that “we will conclude this positively.”

The hope is to finalise a deal in the next ten days, with talks set to reconvene before the end of the week.

2. Older workers dipping into Pension pots

Older workers are having to dip into their Pension pots or take on extra debts to pay bills before hitting retirement, the Daily Express has reported alongside our Savings Gap research.

In addition to featuring True Potential Investor’s Savings Gap research, the article also quoted our Managing Partner, David Harrison, saying “The struggles many people may be having in the latter years of their working life serve as a warning to younger generations about the value of saving early for your future.”
