Please note this blog post was published over 12 months ago and so may not include the most up-to-date information, for example where regulation around investing has changed.

Welcome to our daily update, where we summarise the key talking points from the last 24 hours.
1. Self-driving lorries
Self-driving lorries will be on UK roads before the end of 2018, the government has announced.
The vehicles will be “small convoys of partially self-driving lorries”, these will involve a lead vehicle being controlled by a human driver, and two lorries behind that operated based on the operation of the lead.
2. Johnson on Brexit
Boris Johnson has admitted that the UK will have to pay money as part of its withdrawal from the European Union. He had previously said that the EU could “go whistle.”
The issue of the exact amount of the divorce bill has been hotly contested, with higher end figures ranging between sixty to a hundred billion euros.
“We have to meet our legal obligations as we understand them and that’s what you’d expect the British government to do,” he told BBC Radio 4.
3. UK Savings
UK consumers are putting less money into Savings Accounts, with consumers putting £162 million into bank ISAs in July, marking a drop off of 3.3% compared to last July. That’s the largest fall since 2007.
4. British Airways criticises Home Office
British Airways has blamed the Home Office for long immigration queues at airports, revealing that just a third of 29 eGates at Heathrow Terminal 5 are routinely open.
The company has questioned if the Border Force are working in the most efficient way, and has highlighted the need for the UK to be seen as an accessible destination as Brexit approaches.
The Border Force has defended itself, saying that it makes “every effort to keep delays for passengers to a minimum” and highlighting that security is the priority concern.
