52 weeks to an extra £1,378 – are you up to the challenge?
Please note this blog post was published over 12 months ago and so may not include the most up-to-date information, for example where regulation around investing has changed.

New year, new goals, new challenge. Whether you’re working hard to reach a financial goal or want to put a little extra money aside, our impulseSave® Challenge will help you invest an extra £1,378 in 2019.
What’s the 52-Week impulseSave® Challenge?
The concept is simple: add a small amount, between £1 and £52 into your investment each week for a year. Each week of the year has a number and amount attached to it – Week 1 is £1, Week 2 is £2 and so on. Your challenge, should you choose to accept it, is to impulseSave® an amount each week for 52 weeks. By investing little and often, you’ll have invested an extra £1,378 by the end of the year.
We believe that investing should be accessible to everyone and we make it possible by taking care of the small amounts. With our world-first impulseSave® technology, you can easily top up from just £1 into a True Potential Stocks & Shares ISA, Personal Pension or General Investment Account.
How can you join the challenge?
The simplest way is to top up £1 in week 1, then £2 in week 2, all the way up to week 52. This way you can start small (investing £10 in January) before the challenge gets steadily harder through the year.
Reverse the order
If you feel like you may not have much spare cash in December, you can reverse the order you impulseSave®, investing the larger amounts now and finishing the year with smaller amounts.
impulseSave® in an order that suits you
To take the pressure off a heavy financial start or end to the year, another option is to take the challenge in an order that is best suited to your circumstances each week. Balance the amounts throughout the year, investing when you can and marking off the calendar amounts as you go. If you top up £52 today, you can check off Week 52 and if you top up £36 next week, tick Week 36.

Why should you take the challenge?
At the end of the challenge, you will have added £1,378 to your investment. Aside from contributing extra money towards your financial goal, you will have started a healthy financial habit of regularly putting little amounts away for your future. These manageable and incremental adjustments can lead to substantial savings.
