True Potential and the Harrison Centre for Social Mobility make £4,000 donation to local school

A local Head Teacher has expressed his “huge thanks” to True Potential and the Harrison Centre for Social Mobility for a £4,000 donation that has saved his school two years’ worth of IT budget.

As part of our Social Mobility Pledge campaign, and in conjunction with the Harrison Centre for Social Mobility, we donated five laptops to Chillingham Road Primary School in Heaton, Newcastle.

David Reid, one of our Senior Developers, was thrilled to visit the school and present the delighted children with the computers. One of the machines has already been earmarked for a little girl who has Cerebral Palsy. She struggles to use pen and paper, so this donation will make a huge difference to her education.

Before donating the laptops, which were previously used in our office, David refurbished them and replaced the hard drives. We’ve also made a donation to cover the licensing costs. The finance manager at the school estimates that the donation represented two years of their IT budget. We are thrilled to have been able to make such a big impact and save the school so much extra money to spend on education.

Head teacher Benjamin Wassall said: “Having reconfigured and re-energised our computing curriculum as well as giving our staff the necessary tools to operate more efficiently, I hope we will be able to accelerate the development of key skills required to be effective Chillizens.”

“Huge thanks to True Potential and the Harrison Centre for Social Mobility.”

At True Potential we have always worked with local schools to help improve the lives of people in our community. This is even more important to us since we co-founded the Social Mobility Pledge and became one of the first businesses in the UK to meet its commitments to improve opportunities for people from all backgrounds. We hope the children of Chillingham Road Primary School enjoy their new laptops!
